Since Chinese medicine may be a new addition to your life, you may be curious about how the education, training and licensing of practitioners happens. It's important to understand where a healthcare practitioner's license and authority comes from so that you can remain safe, even when trying out a new type of medical modality. The fact is that acupuncturists are extraordinarily well trained, both in their own art & science, but also in the essentials of biomedical understandings of the body.

Most acupuncturists completeĀ a 3-4 year Masters level program with the final year typically being devoted to clinical rotations and advanced medical topics in particular specialties. Residency is less common in the Chinese medicine profession
